Our friends at Atkin Guitars designed this custom Essential D in-house; and we're a little jealous we didn't think of the idea first!
Essentially--no pun intended--it's an Essential D with "White Rice" specs (i.e. enlarged sound hole, overhanging fingerboard, etc., in the style of the Atkin guitar that pays homage to the famous dreadnought owned by Clarence White and Tony Rice). Clarence always liked his D-18 best ... IYKYK. Other notable features of this guitar include a custom dark pickguard, PreWar neck profile (i.e. a soft V), and a 1 3/4" nut width.
This is a fantastic sounding instrument, with the clarity and punch of a classic D-18 incorporated into a warmer, darker voice thanks to that enlarged sound hole. For D-18 enthusiasts who love the way a Mahogany guitar cuts on a microphone and the way Rosewood guitars round out an ensemble's rhythm pulse -- here's your new axe.
Please note that the heavy-relic look is factory original, and all the wear pictured in our listing is a byproduct of the manufacturing process.

Inspect it, play it, and if it isn't right, contact us within 48 hours of delivery to arrange a return or one-time exchange. Returns are subject to a 5% restocking fee, and the buyer covers shipping both ways.
