Martin 000-18 (1931)

Well, we love it because it's in good condition and beautifully playable ~ which is more than you can say for most pre-war Martin 12-fret 000-18 you encounter. The TME affinity for this model goes back to the days of Eric Schoenberg: the 12-fret 000-18 produced in the very early 1930's are extremely lightly built, with resonance, depth of tone, and power that will boggle your mind relative to the weight of the instrument. This 000-18 remains in very good condition for its age: while the back has been refinished, and a couple back cracks repaired, that's about it. The finish is otherwise original, and the top is crack free. New bar frets have just been installed by TJ Thompson; and the guitar now plays gorgeously, with low action, a straight neck, and incredible responsiveness.
