Gibson Custom Les Paul 1956 Reissue Goldtop (USED, 2006)
LP-Style · P90s Pickups · Used
What's not to love about a P90 Les Paul?! This mid 2000s R6 has just hit its 20th birthday and proves that Gibson really had it going on with these earlier vintage-inspired reissues.
With the R4 occupying the early "wraptail" styling, the R6 rocks the full tun-o-matic setup with the stopbar tailpeice, a configuration that will stick with the LP through its famed Burst years, ultimately becoming the foundation for this iconic model's design and function. Fine tuning of action and intonation marked a major improvement in how Gibsons could play and set up. This is a nicely worn in R6 that has been well maintained for the past couple of decades while clearly being favorited by its prior owner. The guitar had received a set of hum cancelling Fralin P90 pickups as an upgrade of sorts, and they sound fantastic in this build! Though there's a bit of finish sinking in the seam of the Maple top on the bass side, it's stable and did not require further attention from our repair staff.
There are various nicks, scuffs, and dings from handling and play, all of which look quite natural for a guitar that's steadily aged over time. Original frets are still in good shape as well.
Paired with its original hardshell case and paperwork. On Consignment.
