Product information

The Collings 290 pairs mahogany warmth and P90 bite in a lightweight, perfectly balanced single-cut that begs to be turned up and played hard.

When it comes to electric guitars, few pairings feel as immediate and satisfying as mahogany and P90s. There’s a directness to the attack, a woody midrange punch, and a raw, expressive edge that somehow manages to cover more ground than you’d expect.

The Collings 290 takes that timeless formula and refines it without sanding off the character. Lightweight and perfectly balanced, it feels effortless on a strap, with a comfortable ’50s-style neck carve that fills the hand just right.

The Lollar P90s deliver (to our ears) a slightly more modern approach to the classic '50s P90. They possess articulate cleans and a slightly dialed back midrange that can definitely snarl when pushed, but aren't quite as aggressive in the mids department - all with exceptional clarity and touch sensitivity.

It channels the spirit of a great old single-cut Special, but with Collings’ unmistakable attention to detail, consistency, and playability. Vintage attitude, modern execution - and a guitar that simply makes you want to turn up and dig in.
