This AT-17 (number 56) has a confirmed Italian Spruce top in Collings' records, and was originally shipped March 28, 2000.

The Collings AT-17 has achieved well-warranted status as one of the modern era's finest archtop guitars. With its elegantly carved contours, triple-bound body, neck, and peghead, and eye-catching tonewood selection, the AT-17 is Bill Collings' interpretation of the golden era's deluxe 17" archtop popularized by metropolitan jazz guitarists of the mid 20th century (and by builders like D'Angelico and D'Aquisto). There were precious few Collings archtops built during Bill's tenure (these were the guitars he constructed by himself); and since his passing several years ago, there have been no new AT-17 made. This guitar was made by Bill, and has a confirmed Italian Spruce top in Collings' records; it was originally shipped March 28, 2000. While not in mint condition (you'll see spots of finish wear near the binding on the top and back, as well as scattered marks of handling on the surfaces and peghead), we'd call it "very good plus" for a 25 year old guitar with many hours under its belt. It's also developed a bit of lacquer checking, which comes as no surprise given the guitars age.

Priced with Calton Case, this AT-17 would be an instant jewel in the collection of any Collings aficionado.
