The Mythical Overdrive brings the Klon Centaur's magic to a handbuilt Oregon pedal - with two clipping options that cover classic warmth and extended headroom in a single enclosure.

The Mythical Overdrive is a low-gain overdrive and boost built on the Klon Centaur circuit, and one of the most convincing interpretations of that platform we've encountered. Each pedal is handmade in Oregon by Ken Dalton, and the quality is evident the moment you pick one up: thoughtfully built, pedalboard-friendly, and finished with the kind of care that distinguishes a serious boutique pedal from the rest of the field.

We've spent time with a lot of Klon-inspired circuits - including the original - and the MO stands comfortably at the top of that list. It excels at fattening single-coil tones, pushing a cranked amp into sweet, compressed overdrive, and adding that familiar mid-forward bloom that made the Centaur so sought after in the first place.

What sets the MO apart is a mini-toggle on the top of the enclosure that selects between two clipping options. The 1N34 germanium diodes deliver warm, vintage-style breakup at lower gain settings - classic Klon territory. The OA128 Telefunken NOS silicon diodes clip at a higher gain setting, offering more headroom and a slightly larger, more authoritative boost. The difference is subtle but meaningful, and having both options in a single pedal adds genuine versatility for players who want to push their amp harder without changing their core tone.

For players chasing that particular Klon character - the compression, the bloom, the way it sits in a mix - the Mythical Overdrive is a serious option at an honest price.
