Longtime Benson fans will find familiarity in the Monarch. Chris's first true production model, the Monarch blends US and UK tones seamlessly with a certain harmonic liveliness that excels at chimey cleans and punchy gain with equal prowess.

Fast forward a number of years, and the Monarch has received a facelift of sorts in the Reverb+. Incorporating the tone stack of the Chimera (Treble and Bass replacing the US/UK switch), tube-driven reverb, and amazing power scaling, it has elevated this 15-watt amp to new heights. These great upgrades make it even more versatile than before, all without disturbing the beautiful simplicity that draws so many guitarists to them. One of the coolest features of the Monarch Reverb+ is the power scaling circuitry. We absolutely love the functionality of the stepped wattage control, and the ability to harness volume without compromising feel is fantastic. Here's what Benson says about the power scaling:

"We have incorporated into the design a novel tube driven power scaling circuit powered by a 6L6 power tube (set up like a voltage regulator). This approach allows plate resistance to still exist in the power supply (despite the lack of a tube rectifier) which leads to sag and harmonic richness at any volume. The maximum wattage setting (15 watts) bypasses the 6L6 in order to create an option for pure solid state rectification if desired. The power ranges from 1/2 a watt to 15 watts making this an incredibly versatile amplifier for studio or stage!"
