Here’s something special: our first Powers Electric A-Type in their striking Ghost Flame finish. Look closely and you’ll catch flame maple peeking through the Saffron Yellow Metallic - an eye-catching detail that makes an already unique guitar stand out even more.

We’ve been with Powers Electric since day one (they launched back in June of 2023) and have watched players, from the curious to the skeptical, fall head over heels for these guitars. The A-Type doesn’t slot neatly into the “big three” molds of Telecasters, Stratocasters, or Les Pauls, and that’s exactly the point. Like those classics, its magic comes down to the essentials: playability, tone, and feel.

The A-Type simply gets you there in its own way, sparking inspiration, unlocking new ideas, and pushing you toward fresh creative ground. A big part of that centers around the in-house designed pickups, in this case, the slightly brighter sounding PF42s paired with a brass saddle.

The PF42s are outstanding pickups, equally at home with shimmering cleans or pushed, overdriven tones. When we first sat down with a Powers, we were floored by how effortlessly these pickups handle heavy gain - delivering sustain and punch - while keeping noise to a minimum.

That quiet operation is no accident: the PF42 design incorporates a “partial Faraday cage” (hence the name), which shields against environmental interference. The result? A remarkably low-noise set of pickups that gives you clarity, power, and control unlike most anything you’ve played before.
