This 1940 Martin 00-18 represents an excellent opportunity for anyone in search of a Golden-Era Martin with Red Spruce, scalloped bracing and a price tag that in today's fiery vintage market isn't on the crazy side. This is an incredibly big-sounding guitar for its size. It's got very impressive low end for a rear-X 00-size guitar, and the voice is warm & dry. In short: a great guitar for anyone who doesn't mind a few issues but demands the prototypical vintage Martin sound.
Like most older Martins, it has had the neck reset, a refret, and bridge replacement. It has a bridge plate extension, where a supplemented small piece of maple is added near the pin holes to guard against further ball-end wear. There's a patch in the treble side, where an old impact left a puncture wound; all structurally sound & immobile. Priced with hard case. On consignment.
