We like to think our recordings will give the listener a sense of what to expect, but in the case of this 0-45 we don't think anything other than holding it, feeling its response, and listening to the notes decay will tell you how lovely it is.
This 1927 Martin 0-45 first came through our doors when TME founder Stu Cohen discovered it at an estate sale in 2015. It is, quite simply, a remarkable guitar in every way. Pre-war Martins with style-45 decoration are rare in a general sense, but this is the only such 12-fret 0 we have ever seen. The sound defies any expectations one might have about small-bodied guitars. We like to think our recordings will give the listener a sense of what to expect, but in the case of this 0-45 we don't think anything other than holding it, feeling its response, and listening to the notes decay will tell you how lovely it is.
As 97-year old guitars go, this one is in very good condition. The top was refinished long ago, but the rest of the guitar retains its original finish. TJ Thompson antiqued the old finish work in 2015 when we first acquired the guitar, alongside a neck reset, refret, and the installation of a new bridge. The setup hasn't moved at all in these last 7 years; and the guitar plays beautifully. Price includes the original hard case. We invite any interested parties to call us for an in-hand description alongside a purchase inquiry. Payment is requested by wire transfer or check. On consignment; expedited shipping required.
