We acquired this 1944 Martin 0-18 from the family of its original owner; and pride of ownership abounds in its lovely condition. Often referred to as "wartime" Martins, since they were built without steel when it was in high demand, guitars like this one made between 1942-1944 typically exhibit an especially woody tone and a fast, full response. This 0-18 certainly conforms to that rule! The sound leaps right out of it, with unbelievable warmth and thickness for such a small guitar. If you've been looking for that mythical 0-sized guitar with volume and punch that'll fill up a room, get in touch while we'll still got this one.
Condition: as vintage guitars go, this one is in great shape. The neck has been reset, the bridge has been reglued, and the fingerboard refretted. While the original tuners accompany the guitar, modern replacements (StewMac's "Golden Age") have been installed. There's a superficial "B-string" crack which is stable. And while you'll notice the expected lacquer checking and playwear, the guitar's surfaces are remarkably clean for its age. Perhaps most noticeably, the guitar exhibits a degree of top bellying behind its bridge. Priced with its original chipboard-style case. Expedited shipping only at online checkout. We invite interested parties to call us for an in-hand description!
