Maestro's Echoplex tape delays are widely considered the gold standard when it comes to authentic, vintage tape delay tone. Decades later, nothing really captures the vibe, tone, and response of an old Echoplex unit. We're quickly reminded of just how great these units are when plugging into this lovely example from 1972.

As if an original early 70s Maestro Echoplex EP-3 needed more 'cool' points, this recent addition reveals a truly one-off custom-built cabinet enclosure by the fabulous folks over at Benson Amps! Yes, you heard that right.

Benson was commissioned a few years ago - back when projects like this were within reach - to build a replica cabinet for this EP-3. The robustly built cabinet features a wonderful black tolex wrap with heavier duty case clasp, new hinges, and even a replica spec sheet glued to the inside of the lid! A vintage style leather amplifier handle was installed along with a small metal 'Benson' badge to identify the maker's wonderful work. Think of it like a high-quality amplifier head shell, only built specifically to house an Echoplex! Amazing!

This Echoplex delivers the same classic sound that made these units famous - harmonically rich analog tone and that unmistakable tape fidelity that even the greatest tape echo simulators can't quite replicate. It remains in solid working order, with just one of the tape cartridge stand-off supports having come loose from the chassis. It's still stable, but a proper replacement may be in order at some point in the future.

You're certainly not going to find another one quite like this!

**Please note: Due to the fragile nature of Echoplex units, it is being sold as-is. It is currently in working order, but does feature an original circuit, including but not limited to motor, capacitors, potentiometers, resistors, and tape heads.**
