Lakland Shoreline Series SL44-60 Bass (USED)
Precision Bass · J-Bass Style Pickups · Used
A Japanese-built Lakland SL44-60 in Three Tone Sunburst - pre-CBS Jazz Bass DNA, modern refinement, and excellent condition at a compelling price.
The Lakland Shoreline Series is one of the better-kept secrets in the bass world - built in Japan to Lakland's exact specifications, using the same parts as their American-made instruments, and finished to a standard that puts many domestic competitors to shame. The SL44-60 is the most traditionally minded model in the lineup, originally developed as Joe Osborn's signature instrument and conceived as a modern refinement of the pre-CBS Jazz Bass. That lineage shows in everything from the way it sits in your hands to the way it sits in a mix. This example arrives in Three Tone Sunburst over an alder body - warm, resonant, and a natural complement to the rosewood fingerboard's smooth, even response. The hard maple neck carries graphite reinforcement rods for long-term stability, and Hipshot Ultralight tuners keep the overall weight in check without sacrificing balance. The Lakland LJ-4 single coil pickups deliver that classic Jazz Bass voice with just enough refinement to remind you this isn't a vintage instrument - rich midrange, lush overtones, and a touch of Lakland's characteristic string-to-string clarity and articulation that working bassists respond to immediately.
This particular example is in excellent condition with minimal play wear - clean, road-ready, and available at a price that makes it one of the more compelling used bass opportunities on the floor right now.
