Gibson SG Standard, Cherry (1972)
LP-Style · HH (2 Humbuckers) Pickups · Vintage
Gibson's return to the "small guard" stylings that put the SG model on the map lives on in this great playing Standard from '72.
1972 Gibson SG Standard in original Cherry finish just into the shop. This is a super clean and excellent sounding example of an early 70s Standard, complete with original humbuckers and a clean, rich Cherry finish. It marks Gibson's first official year returning back to the "small guard" stylings of those original early 60s SGs.
The fat-tapered neck plays great thanks to a fresh refret performed in-house by our repair staff, and with just a pair of bridge posts to note as the only parts change, it's one of the most intact and undisturbed 70s SGs we've probably ever had here in the shop. It includes its original rectangle hardshell case which is also in very nice condition.
These early 70s SGs have become such great values in the vintage world, carrying over a healthy portion of 60s tone into a decade ripe with change. A total winner in our book!
