Product information

This 1935 Gibson L-00 goes back a long ways with TME. It was last owned by a staff member who purchased it in the late 1970's while tenured at the shop. It's a great-sounding example of an L-00, from the year Gibson transitioned to the kerfed lining / wider-Sunburst configuration that's come to be emblematic of the model. This guitar also has a very full-feeling neck, which we love (and which is part of the reason it sounds so nice). It's loud, dry, and snarly, with terrific power when flatpicked. Naturally, it'll deliver the expected bluesy bark--but there's a wealth of tonal complexity to discover in a great L-00 like this one.

The guitar has seen little in the way of repairs in its life. The bridge was replaced long ago, and fit with a drop-in saddle. Our shop has re-configured the saddle slot for a vintage-style, cutthrough saddle. We have also refretted it with contemporary wire. The action now measures a spot-on 3/32" (bass side) and 2/32" (treble side) under tension of light-gauge strings. Priced with 1970's archtop hard case.
