1964 Gibson B-45-12 in original Cherry Sunburst just into the shop!
This is an exceptional example of the quintessential 1960s Gibson 12-string acoustic made famous by Gordon Lightfoot. It features the more-desirable adjustable Rosewood bridge, without the trapeze configuration commonly seen throughout the decade.
The tone is remarkably lively and resonant, which in no doubt is due to the lightness of build. While it does possess some of the characteristics of 60s Gibson flat-top tone (punchy midrange with moderate compression), it projects a bit more openly with a nice warm top end. The wider 2" nut width makes for an easy picking experience as well.
The guitar remains trouble-free with no cracks or bridge issues. The original frets are in great shape and the original Kluson strip tuners work very well. A small indentation of the face of the headstock keeps this from approaching "near mint" status, as it's otherwise as close to a closet queen as you'll find.
If you've been on the hunt for a premier folk strummer of a 12-string, this would likely end your search.
