The conversation around wireless systems has always come with an asterisk. The tone isn't quite right. The latency is noticeable. The range drops when you turn your back to the amp. Fishman's AirLock GT makes a credible case that those objections are largely behind us.It's as simple as it gets: transmitter into your guitar, receiver into your amp or pedalboard, and they find each other automatically. No channels to hunt, no ritual before soundcheck. The swiveling ¼" plug fits securely into virtually any input jack orientation, and the whole system travels in an included molded case.
What separates the AirLock GT from the crowded 2.4GHz field is how it handles interference. Automatic channel management across 80 channels means dense Wi-Fi environments aren't the liability they are with lesser systems. Default latency is 3ms (effectively imperceptible) with a user-adjustable option for especially congested venues. Range is 120 feet with no line-of-sight requirement. The Cable Tone switch lets you dial in the natural roll-off of a 3, 5, or 10-meter cable if that's what your ears expect. Battery life runs up to 10 hours, the internal battery is user-replaceable, and the receiver doubles as a USB audio interface for direct recording without an additional interface in the chain.
