Known as one of the great mid powered offerings from Fender during this period, the Tremolux shared much of its DNA with the Vibrolux Reverb and Bandmaster amplifiers, albeit without reverb. This rarer transitional version combines the late Blonde Era tolex and grill cloth with the Blackface faceplate and knobs.
At 35 watts output via a pair of 6L6 power tubes, the tube-rectified Tremolux offers players a cleaner, more forgiving mid 60s Fender tone. Plugged into its original closed-back 2x10 cabinet with Oxford 10" speakers, the Tremolux remains bright and sparkly with nice focus and slightly more punch than 12" speakers a la the aforementioned Vibrolux.
The amplifier remains in good overall condition, with light to moderate wear throughout. There's a small tear in the center of the grill cloth, and evidence of a prior owner's contact information written onto the cabinet, but both the head and cab are structurally sound.
It's been serviced by one of our local trusted amp techs, Stan Day, who replaced some of the electrolytic, filter, and bias capacitors and upgraded the power cord to a 3 prong cable. Power tube retainers were added some time ago prior to our acquisition of the amp.
