It doesn't get much more 70s than a Natural Stratocaster, right?! The 'Au Naturel' fad of that decade can be seen on many highly prized Golden Era instruments of the 50s and 60s. In the case of this 1975 Stratocaster, however, we'd call it more 'fab' and less 'fad'; it's one of the coolest looking ones out there!
Acquired from a closed up music store in Vermont, this mid 70s Stratocaster has all of the hallmarks of the period- 3-bolt neck, bullet truss rod, and large headstock. Upon close inspection and revealed in the body cavities, it appears as though it went through a very old and well-done refinish before settling on the now faded amber-like Natural you see before you. It shows as well as any factory finish we've seen from this era, which might indicate the guitar potentially started out as a Black finished guitar but had been refinished in Natural. Either way, we're really digging the finish, considering it's showing off an almost one-piece Ash body!
The neck has a medium/large profile with a very lean taper that plays quite smooth from first position all the way into the higher register. The pickups are right in line sonically with what we've heard in other strats from this era. They're bright and chimey without being shrill, and they've got a nice balanced response.
While all three pickups sound great, the middle pickup is the standout of the bunch. We could spend all day playing on that pickup! Great classic Strat tones aplenty here, with some nice top end cut across the board.
Condition is Very Good+. The guitar exhibits moderate play wear throughout by way of some dings, nicks, and surface scratches. There's some moderate wear in the first few frets, but they're otherwise clean and playable. Original wiring had once been slightly modified, but it's been returned to stock, and the pots, switch, and tone cap are original to the guitar.
