"It's all about the feel and sound of an instrument. Those things are number one with me, above everything else." ~ Dennis Galuszka

There's a particular kind of cool that a 70s Stratocaster has always had (to us). That slightly raw, working-guitar energy that the CBS-era instruments projected, even when the quality control didn't always back it up. This Dennis Galuszka Masterbuilt takes that aesthetic and delivers on every promise those guitars made but couldn't quite keep.

The aged natural finish over roasted alder reads immediately as a nod to that era, but sit down with it and the comparison stops being about looks. At 7lbs 10oz it's perfectly balanced and lively, and the roasted alder gives the whole instrument a resonance and stability that we seek out in a vintage original.

For us, the neck is the immediate highlight. Dennis spec'd a '63 Strat C profile measuring .83"–1.0", paired with a 9½" radius and a 1.65" bone nut. Moderately chunky in the best way, it fills your palm without ever drifting into clubby territory. You can tell it was shaped by someone who has handled and built a lot of Fender necks and distilled that experience into everything he makes.

A few details worth calling out: truss rod access is at the headstock, which solves one of our longest-standing Fender frustrations without fanfare. The fingerboard carries 22 medium jumbo (6150) frets rather than the traditional 21, adding upper-register real estate without compromising the vintage feel. Practical, considered, and exactly the kind of decision that separates a Masterbuilt from a production instrument.

The Josefina hand-wound Tomatillo pickups bring a little extra heat - enough added output to push an amp harder while retaining the clarity and sparkle that make a great Strat irreplaceable. Articulate and responsive across the full dynamic range.

This is a guitar that knows exactly what it is: vintage soul, refined by experience, executed with total intention. Just an incredible Strat no matter how you slice it.
