An "Old Factory" 000 that offers excellent sound with a classic Martin aesthetic

Martin's 000-18 has long been one of the more revered models of their longstanding and legendary lineup for over 90 years. The largest of the small body series, it offers players a wonderful combination of projection and balance with a woody, rich tonality that makes for one of the most versatile steel strings out there.

This '61 - built in the older North Street factory - maintains much of the classic stylings and construction elements Martin was using in the prior decade, like the small Maple bridge plate, comfortable V neck, open back tuners, and hide glue construction. The lightness of build is noticeable as well, undoubtedly attributing to its open and responsive voice.

The guitar's finish is original with the exception of some light lacquer touch-up off the edge of the original pickguard to cover up some bare wood, along with some additional touch-up on the back of the body near the edge. There's very minor curling on the outer edge of the pickguard (treble side waist) where some of the typical pickguard cracks occur. The crack is very minor and needs no attention. There's finish wear on the back side waist, primarily from player contact/friction, and similar forearm wear on the top towards the bass side lower bout.

It was recently restored (within the past 2-3 years), which included a replacement Ebony bridge with cut-through saddle, neck reset, and refret. It was the first time the guitar had received said work, as it was acquired by a professional musician in 100% original condition. Quality of the work is top notch, and the guitar is dialed in for excellent playability.

Given the continued rise in prices for 40s and 50s Martins, these early 60s examples offer tremendous value for the discerning player who yearns for vintage tone and feel on a friendlier budget.
