Givens F5 263 (1981)
Used
Throaty chop, lively, dynamic—this early Givens has that high, lonesome sound in spades.
Another rare bird sighting! We have heard our fair share of Givens mandolins, thanks in large part to a great local musician and longtime friend of the shop who owned several over the years. He, like so many who came into contact with Bob Givens’ mandolins, quickly fell in love with their sound, as well as their character. Givens was old school before there was a school!
This Givens F5 has an enviable, raw, throaty chop and the kind of old-school, lively hollow goodness that leaps out and grabs anyone in earshot. It is a fast player, with a narrow “v” neck profile. Fans of older Gibsons and similar, traditionally oriented mandolins will find a lot to love here. It sounds distinct from everything else in the shop right now!
