This '64 Jaguar reissue has us thinking (hard) about adding it to our collection. A fantastic example of this model!

Debuting in 1962, the Jaguar features a 24” scale length, a striking offset body, multiple switching and tonal options, and was expected to eventually eclipse the Stratocaster as Fender’s top-of-the line model.

While this ultimately never came to pass - hard to topple the iconic Strat, right? - the Jaguar has been adopted by scores of players like Johnny Marr, Kurt Cobain, Kevin Shields, John Frusciante, Tom Verlaine, PJ Harvey...the list goes on and on.

This ’64 Jaguar features a two-piece select alder body with a Faded/Aged Burgundy Mist Metallic finish (Journeyman level relic) for the refined and slightly aged look of a guitar that was well-taken-care-of through the years. It's loud an resonant acoustically - the feel is almost Tele-like, likely due to the RSD bridge. This bridge btw....wow. Totally game changer for offset guitars. The brass saddles bring in just a smidge of Tele bite and ultimately make these guitars way more usable in a wider variety of contexts (in our humble opinion). The original Custom Shop '62 Jaguar pickups were swapped out for a set of Novak Jag-V pickups (originals are included and TME performed the swap) deliver classic Fender twang mixed with a healthy dose of chime and jangle. We were immediately playing every modern-era Johnny Marr riff we could think of, smiling at how this guitar into a Carr Super Bee nailed 'that' sound.

Lastly, one thing you can't underestimate about Jaguars? The 24" scale, coupled with the comfy offset body of this Fender Custom Shop '64 Jaguar, combine to give you a guitar that is just a blast to play. Truly, these guitars are so much fun and always have us reaching for new melodies, riffs, and the like - which - is the whole point of acquiring a new guitar, right?
