By popular demand, Ron Thorn has reintroduced the SoCal G/T with a stunning refresh that elevates every detail, and we are absolutely here for it. Starting with the refined body shape first showcased on his engraved-plated Thorns, this model balances comfort and style with ease.

This new chapter of Thorn guitars arrives after Ron's celebrated tenure as a Masterbuilder and Head of the Fender Custom Shop. That experience shows here: the SoCal G/T has a stout, rock-solid feel that translates to copious sustain and punch. It's at once refined and effortless to play, yet still channels the old-soul vibe we all want in a great instrument.

This example is finished in a tiger-eye burst that shows off a quilted maple top with gorgeous, dramatic figuring (it's the kind of top that shifts and pools with the light). Beneath it is an alder body, paired with a roasted birdseye maple neck, a super comfy round-C profile (.86–.94"), a luxurious Madagascar rosewood fretboard set with ivoroid block inlays, 10" radius, and flawlessly installed 6105 frets.

Hardware choices highlight Ron's meticulous eye for performance: a compensated Thorn Brass Knuckle single-piece saddle set into a custom bridge plate, locking tuners (no string tree required), and a sleek custom control plate that puts the controls in the perfect spot.

The pickup pairing on this one is something special: a TV Jones Classic in the neck and a Fender Josefina hand-wound Tele pickup in the bridge. It's a combination that delivers real range - the TV Jones brings warmth, clarity, and a touch of chime up front, while Josefina's bridge winding has that hand-wound Tele snap and dimension. Clear, fat, punchy, and expressive whether you're playing clean or pushing it into overdrive.
