Lenny Robert, the owner/builder behind Daddy Mojo Electrics, is building some of the most unique and exciting guitars we've come across in a long time. With his Fine Arts education clearly weaving its way through each guitar he builds, Lenny has transformed his love for early 20th Century design into modern-made masterpieces that just ooze vibe.
His Rosetta model is rooted in that love for Depression-Era style and aesthetic, but without being totally tethered to the past. A small-bodied electric archtop akin to the size of an old Martin Style 2-meets-1933 Epiphone Olympic (see David Rawlings), Lenny experiments in the way many boutique instrument luthiers do, combining both traditional and modern tonewoods, building concepts, electronics, and finishes to make something familiar enough in concept, but something undoubtedly unique and individualistic.
What better way to kick off our working relationship than to have Lenny build the absolutely stunning Rosetta 3 Custom you see before you. As longtime admirers of his work, we stepped away from the process and let Lenny do what he does best- build a guitar with near limitless design sensibilities that catered to nothing but his creative spirit and inspiration. That's the fun part of working with some as talented and "tuned in" to their craft.
The body- a striking Canary Yellow aged gloss finish over Spruce against the rippling Figured Bastogne Walnut back and sides- would make eyes pop all on its own. But when you add in the unbelievably cool Tortoiseshell fingerboard (yes, fingerboard!) and custom grained ivoroid pickguard with a Dreamsong Charlie Christian pickup integrated along with a beautiful flower motif, we're in a whole different solar system, folks!
"Small but mighty" couldn't ring truer with this Rosetta. It has an impressive amount of low end acoustic response given its size. The punch and air movement is picked up perfectly by the CC pickup, yielding an incredibly big and dynamic sound plugged in.
There's an inviting element about a guitar like this that is so striking and sophisticated, which speaks volumes about how well Lenny puts a Daddy Mojo together. We're humbled and honored to have this guitar in our shop, and we know its next owner will share in our appreciation.
Paired with a custom tweed hardshell case.
