Big, bold 15" Fender tone with lush swirling harmonic vibrato is a hard combination to beat in this transitional 5G5 Pro

1960 Fender 5G5 Pro 1x15 combo just into the shop!

This is not only our first Brown Pro to have in the shop, but it happens to be one of the rarer transitional variants you're likely to run into in a vintage Fender amp. As Fender began its move from Tweed to Tolex coverings at the very end of 1959, newly designed circuits made their way out into the hands of players. This 5G5 Pro along with the 6G4 Super were among those earliest Brown amps, both featuring a unique pinkish-brown covering and center Volume control on the Vibrato channel. They share some DNA and componentry from late 50s Fenders as well.

Among the first 50 Pro models to be completed, this amplifier came to us with an untouched circuit, including original filter caps, bias caps, and vibrato circuit caps. Interestingly, it resides in an aftermarket cabinet, which leads us to believe the original cabinet was either heavily modified or damaged at one point along the way. The cabinet was made by Armadillo Amp Works, who did a fantastic job reproducing the original.

Stan Day went through the amp and did all the necessary servicing. It's running great and sounding even better!

The chassis itself features original transformers throughout, and the speaker is also an original / period-correct reconed Jensen P15N from late 1959.

It sounds unbelievable, with excellent low end definition and strong fundamental treble response. The harmonic vibrato is super lush and musical as well. Pair this amp up with your favorite reverb (or a vintage 6G15 Reverb Unit ;) ) and it's game over! It has excellent clean headroom that gets a little throatier with the volume pushed up past 5-6. It's hard to beat the sound of a vintage P15N!

This is an incredibly inspiring amp with a unique voice you're unlikely to find in other Fender amps from this period. We're in love!

**Please Note: All vintage amplifiers - regardless of service history - contain electronic components that will eventually require replacement or repair. This is often unpredictable and should be expected as a vintage amplifier owner. We are not responsible for additional service upon receipt. We also do not guarantee tube life.**
