PRS McCarty Yellow Tiger Flamed Maple Top 10 Top (USED, 2020)
Solid Body · Humbuckers Pickups · Used
A 2020 Core McCarty in Yellow Tiger, with the 10 Top flame, the 58/15 LT voicing, and the stoptail simplicity that has always defined this model.
The McCarty exists because Paul Reed Smith spent the late 1980s asking Ted McCarty how Gibson actually built guitars during the years everyone still chases. McCarty ran the company through that period, and what he passed along shaped the model that carried his name starting in 1994.You can hear the influence in the specifics. The body is a little thicker than a Custom, which gives the guitar more weight behind each note and a longer decay. The stoptail bridge with brass inserts couples the strings straight into that mass. The 58/15 LT pickups are wound low on purpose, which is where the model gets its clarity: chords stay separated, and the guitar responds to how hard you dig in rather than compressing everything into one texture. Pull up on the tone knob and both pickups split, which turns a warm two-humbucker guitar into something with real snap on the bridge position. One volume, one tone, one toggle - nothing to get lost in.
The 25-inch scale and Pattern neck keep it comfortable for long playing sessions. This example features PRS's Yellow Tiger over a 10 Top flame maple cap, which is the figure grade PRS reserves for the small percentage of tops that meet their highest standard, and the amber-into-gold of the finish gives the flame somewhere to move under stage lighting.
**From PRS: "This was built in 2020, but the order was placed in 2019 so it has 2019 specs. The hardware is hybrid and the pickups are 58/15LT. The guitar should have received a 10 on the corner, but it appears that was omitted when the serial number was being written."
