This 1965 Epiphone El Dorado comes to us from the estate of a local client who owned it for many decades. The original hard case, included with the sale, bears a backstage pass from an Allman Brothers concert in 1991; and the late owner's friends tell us he had the instrument for many years before the night he showed it to his hero, Dicky Betts.

The guitar retains all its original parts and fittings, and it's been kept in remarkably good shape. Tonally, it's an excellent example of an El Dorado, exhibiting the compressed punch and chime that makes 60's Gibsons great recording guitars. Compared to its slope-shouldered cousin, the Texan, the El Dorado offers a little more woof in the low end -- think of it as an ever-so-slightly darker-sounding version of the classic 1960's Epiphone songwriter guitar.

Our shop has inspected the entire guitar and given it a clean bill of health. An old decal was removed from the peghead veneer, but aside from that we only performed minor adjustments to the saddle and truss rod.

As mentioned, the guitar is priced with its original hard case.
