An early example of Xotic's California Classic series: hand-built, nitro-finished, and Raw Vintage-loaded for genuine vintage voice and feel with modern reliability.

Xotic built the California Classic series to do one thing: capture the feel and voice of a great vintage S-style without the vintage-market gamble. This XSC-2 is an early example from that run, and it carries the traits that put the line on the map, hand assembly, a nitrocellulose finish, and pickups wound by Raw Vintage to Xotic's own spec.

The appeal here is immediacy. These guitars are built and aged to feel like something that's already logged years of gigs, so there's no break-in period between you and the instrument, it responds like a well-worn player from the first chord. The roasted maple neck is a big part of that: the roasting process stabilizes the wood and gives it a broken-in, satiny feel under the hand, while the thin nitro finish lets the body breathe and resonate.

Tonally, this is classic S-style territory done with care. Expect the woody, dynamic response that the Raw Vintage pickups and pure-steel saddles are known for, glassy highs, a vocal midrange, and enough low-end body to keep it from ever sounding thin.
