Rick Turner Renaissance RS6 Sycamore Nylon String (USED)

A handmade Santa Cruz, CA-made nylon string with Rick Turner's Hybrid neck, built to feel at home in the hands of steel string and electric players.

Plugging in a nylon string guitar and keeping the warmth, air, and soft attack that drew you to it in the first place takes more than a good pickup. It starts with how the guitar is built, and that is where Rick Turner's Renaissance series has always focused.

Every Renaissance is handmade by Rick Turner Guitars in Santa Cruz, California, and constructed like a true acoustic instrument: bent sides, a braced tonewood top and back, and a thinline body. Inside, a center block tames feedback while leaving the top free to move, so the guitar has a real acoustic voice for the electronics to work with rather than a solid platform for a pickup.

The Hybrid neck is what makes this Renaissance so easy to pick up. It joins the body at the 14th fret, with a 1 13/16" nut, 2" string spacing at the bridge, and an arched fingerboard with a 12" radius. Those dimensions feel much closer to a steel string acoustic than a traditional classical, so electric and steel string players can reach for nylon string tones without relearning the neck, and the 14-fret join gives easier access to the upper register.

The electronics are Turner's own Timberline piezo system feeding an 18-volt D-TAR preamp. The piezo captures the full frequency range of the strings and top, and the 18-volt design gives the signal plenty of headroom, so the guitar stays clean and natural whether you are playing delicate fingerstyle passages or digging in hard.
