We purchased this 1971 Martin D-28 from its original owner, who'd been using it as his primary guitar at home, and on stage, for the last 50 years. As 1970's D-28s go, this is a lovely sounding instrument, likely due to the thousands of hours logged on it. Its voice is very warm, with a beautiful combination of darkness, balance, and sparkle. It's a good candidate for a burgeoning bluegrass player who'd rather have a vintage instrument than a new one, but it's one of those D-28s that sounds just as good when it's played fingerstyle behind a vocal.
Condition: this D-28 remains in good overall condition; and our shop has it playing beautifully. We've performed a neck reset & a refret; and a new bridge has been installed. A previous bridge plate pad has been removed, and our techs have shored up wear to the original bridge plate. Previously executed binding repairs have held well and do not require attention at this time. Priced with a period hardshell case. Please call us if you'd like an in-hand description!
