Fender Stratocaster Sunburst 120079 (1966)
S-Style · Single Coils Pickups · Vintage
Though this mid 60s Strat has been around the block more than a few times, it show us that an early CBS Strat has plenty to give in the tone department.
This guitar was once stripped of its original 3-Tone Sunburst finish and stained Natural, then recently refinished in an aged Sunburst to get it closer to more of a stock aesthetic. The neck - despite having some minor repairs throughout its life - retains its original and well-worn finish along with a great playing refret.
The pickups are early Abigail Ybarras from the 1990s and they sound fantastic! They're hooked up to a mostly original harnes, featuring three original Stackpole pots along with a 5-way switch for modern Strat wiring. The bridge is made by Callaham, one of the best aftermarket Strat bridges on the market today. The guitar weighs in just a touch under 7.5 lbs and is wonderfully resonant. the chunkier Oval C neck feels just superb in-hand as well.
Our repair staff has given it a proper setup and it's nicely dialed in with medium-low action. It's accompanied by an older black rectangle hardshell case (non-Fender).
