1967 Fender Jazz Bass just into the shop on consignment! This is the classic late 60s Fender "bound with blocks" look that was predominantly adapted the year prior. It features a great Candy Apple Red refinish on the body while retaining original Candy Apple Red finish on the peghead (some old clear overspray is present).
Mostly '66 in build, it tips formally into 1967 by way of the original pickups, which are marked '1-3-67' on the bottom of the gray bobbins. The neck is stamped October of '66 and the pots date from the middle of the year as well.
What really stands out about this Jazz Bass is how well it plays and how much it weighs. Coming in a few ounces shy of 9lbs on our scale, it's incredibly comfortable. Combined with a superb neck carve, it's an easy choice for someone looking for a vintage Fender bass that practically plays itself. It's also incredible resonant acoustically - we find the body moves and shakes no matter where you're playing on the neck.
The body was refinished some time ago in a thin nitro Candy Apple Red finish, keeping in line with what is presumed to be an original CAR bass. Hardware remains original as does the pickguard. The bass is also accompanied by its original "no tail" logo hardshell case, which is in very good overall condition with one of the spring latches having lost its lock piece.
All in all, a wonderful player's example of a 60s Jazz Bass that begs to be played.
