For us, this Custom Shop ’63 Telecaster checks all the right boxes.
Let’s be real: Telecaster players are a particular bunch. Whether it’s about dialing in just the right amount of twang, zeroing in on the perfect neck shape, obsessing over pickup pairings, weight, or even ash versus alder debates, we all have our own idea of the perfect Tele, and we’ll go to great lengths to find it.
First impressions? Hard not to fall for it purely based on looks. Aged Surf Green with a matching headstock, rosewood board, and tort guard... yeah, we were sold at first glance. But it’s more than just looks. The bridge pickup delivers rich midrange with a hint of P90 growl, without any of the harsh top-end. It’s punchy, chimey, and beautifully balanced. The neck pickup leans into hollow, Strat-like tones and pairs up perfectly with the bridge for a versatile, inspiring sound.
The '60s Strat C neck carve (.83"–1.0") and 6105 frets feel smooth and broken-in, making it a joy to play. Acoustically, it’s lively and resonant with great sustain - always a sign of a special guitar.
If this sounds like your flavor of Tele, you’re in for something pretty great. Bonus points for being one of the coolest looking Teles we’ve had in the shop as of late.
