This Collings D2H Traditional is a rarely available variant of the model built with Madagascar Rosewood back & sides! That tonewood is not always available for custom orders at Collings; so we jumped at the chance to build some T-series guitars when a supply of it became available. Is there a tonal benefit associated with Madagascar Rosewood? We certainly think so. For a rosewood guitar, this instrument has stunning clarity. The mids and high end are so clear and crisp, you might be momentarily fooled into thinking this was a Mahogany guitar. And the low end seems more focused and robust than it would be if this guitar were made from Indian Rosewood. The takeaway?
