Atkin "The Hop Picker" Medium Aged

The new "Hop Picker" from Atkin Guitars recalls the well-known square-shouldered dreadnoughts of the early 1960's, which are prized for their compressed, punchy sound in front of a studio microphone (and yes, also for their cool-looking inlaid pickguards). Atkin's riff on the design adds a handsome bridge inlay and a drop-dead gorgeous dark-cherry sunburst. But as we've come to expect, the sound of this guitar is what's really going to set it apart from the crowd. It has terrific headroom and power -- enough for a bluegrass player to love it; and yet it retains the expected, characteristic midrange sparkle that makes this style of dreadnought a favorite amongst producers and engineers worldwide.
