Gibson F5 “Fern” (1929)

TME is proud to host this exceptionally-clean 1929 Gibson F5 mandolin. This "Fern" has been with its current owner since 1980, when it was purchased from the estate of the original owner. Although this mandolin doesn't look like a new instrument (it doesn't sound that way either), it's clearly been cared for perfectly over the years. Its structure is largely untouched, and all parts appear original except for a new bridge made by Ben Pearce of Outlier Instruments. Terrific setup and playability, and the sort of ancient tone that's the envy of every bluegrass mandolin player out there. This mandolin includes its original case (one end of the handle has come undone) and a modern fiberglass case/case cover as well. Click over to the 'Video' tab to hear it played by mandolinist, David Benedict. On consignment.

Please contact us via phone or email if you're interested in purchasing this mandolin.
