Novo Guitars Mirus J Aztec Gold w/Gold Foils (USED, 2025)

Spec'ing out one-of-a-kind builds is one of the most rewarding parts of working with boutique companies, and this Novo Mirus J is a great example. While we didn't spec this one (it came in via a trade deal), we're definitely on the same wavelength as our customer (we'd spec'd a similar build that captured the vibe of a Harmony Rocket). All the details tip a hat to the past without tipping over into pastiche. This is painted a beautiful Aztec Gold with block inlays, a combination that gives the vintage vibe a little extra shine.

What you get is a guitar that looks timeless and plays like a modern instrument. Tonally, it reminds us of an early '50s Telecaster, airy, open, and full of chime, crossed with something like a Filter'Tron-loaded Gretsch. In short? Chime for days. Having those sounds in a guitar this easy to play is a real treat, because it takes you places an old student-model guitar won't. Those vintage guitars have plenty of charm, but they ask you to adapt your playing to them. The Mirus J meets you where you are, and it plays as easily as a great Strat.

It's every bit as comfortable as it sounds. The Mirus J is acoustically loud and responsive, with a broken-in Chunky C neck (.88" at the first fret) and a body shape that makes its long scale feel like a short scale. Cowboy chords come easily, it sits comfortably on your lap, and the upper frets are wide open when you want to stretch out. Come by and hear it for yourself.
