SET UP TO PLAYFresh strings, dialed in
SINCE 1968Still independent
We’ve been longtime fans of the Custom Shop’s late ‘60s models, and while the inevitable Hendrix connection is undeniable (let's be real, Hendrix is a big reason many of us even picked up a guitar), what truly hooks us is how these guitars feel in hand.
What really sets this 1968 Stratocaster apart is the U-shaped neck carve. With a depth of .85-.91", it’s substantial, yet offers a slightly narrower feel, making it incredibly comfortable for a wide range of playing styles. Whether you're into bluesier playing or more adventurous explorations, this neck delivers a perfect balance of depth and ease of play. Another note regarding the feel of the neck...Though it's a late ‘60s model, the finish is reminiscent of a ‘50s Strat—no thick, glossy coating to slow you down here. It feels nicely broken-in, offering an instantly comfortable playing experience.
Each pickup position on this 1968 Stratocaster has been carefully optimized: a ‘69 in the neck, a Fat 50s in the middle, and a Tex Special in the bridge. This setup delivers a fuller bridge tone, lightly compressed 2 and 4 positions, and a scooped midrange neck position for perfect tonal balance. We’re hooked!
