Product information

Nine David Brown Masterbuilts in, and this double-bound, Relic'd '67 Tele Custom in 3-Tone Sunburst is as good as any of them: roasted neck, period-voiced pickups, 7lbs total - and it plays like it's been yours for years.

We've had nine David Brown Masterbuilts through the shop. Every one has been outstanding. This one happens to be a double-bound '67 Tele Custom in 3-Tone Sunburst, which means the waitlist conversation starts the moment it hits the floor (and our credit cards start getting nervous).

David's hallmarks are all present here: a neck carve that feels dialed in from the first chord, fretwork that's genuinely flawless, and fit and finish that holds up under scrutiny. This one carries a '60s Oval C profile (.85–.92") on a roasted 3A flame maple neck with an AAA rosewood round-laminate fingerboard. The roasting process gives it that immediate broken-in stiffness that usually takes decades to develop. Narrow tall 6105 frets, bone nut at 1.65", MoP dots. Everything here is considered and it shows.

The hand-wound '67 Tele pickups are voiced to period spec: less modern sizzle, more of that complex, slightly compressed midrange character the era is known for. Through a pushed amp, the neck pickup blooms; the bridge has clarity without the ice-pick edge you'd expect. The '67-style bridge, steel saddles, and 3-ply mint pickguard keep everything period-correct on the hardware side.

At 7lbs, this one wears well. Nitro lacquer throughout, with a thin satin finish on the neck worth calling out specifically. It's one of those details that reminds you a single builder took this from wood selection to final assembly. Comes with hardshell case and Certificate of Authenticity.
