Andy's Pick
1967 Gibson Hummingbird
"I'm attempting to focus on the hidden aspects of the series: these guitars have been with us long enough to disappear from the New Arrivals section, yet every time I walk past them in the showroom I think, "How can this thing still be here?"
This '67 Hummingbird was brought into the shop by its original owner, who simply never took to the guitar after a year of lessons. It was, quite literally, sitting in its case until last year.
TME's Glenn Nichols did a masterful job repairing some cracked binding -- and other than that, the guitar is as clean as they come. Most importantly, it sounds fantastic. It's not super-dry, but it has that compressed, 60's Gibson thump that makes it a ton of fun to play if you're a singer.
Short story? This is the vintage guitar we all hope to find lurking in the attic; and we've made it play like a new instrument."
Andy's Pick
Josh Williams Stella
"While I am far from the most seasoned electric player on staff, I still get around a little and have been trying to learn slide over the past year.
This Stella -- essentially a semi-hollow LP style guitar -- has everything I'd want in a new electric guitar -- intense musicality, responsiveness, the fatter '59 style neck carve and Gibson scale, and it's very lightweight for an instrument built in this style.
It's clear and warm-sounding at once; and the tone has more in common with something old than it does with something new. Again, just a great-sounding, super-versatile guitar that I can't believe we still have."

Dan's Pick
1963 Epiphone Coronet
"Like an LP/SG Junior but cooler…
That’ll probably get me in trouble with the vintage Gibson crowd, but the real ones know what I mean.
This ‘63 is a freak of nature. Uncharacteristically fat neck for the year, hot P90, and just super, super resonant. This guitar is BEGGING to be played. These are Gibsons after all!"

Martin Custom Shop 00-14 Deep Body
"I made my first-ever pilgrimage to the Martin factory with my good friend and colleague Andy Cambria in the Summer of 2024.
It was such an amazing experience! We hand-selected some incredible tonewoods for TME builds, and the spec that really spoke to me was this 00-14 that Andy conceived.
Inspired by the limited Jeff Tweedy model in some ways, it just has this incredibly full sound with great clarity and definition that far exceeds its body size.
In the market for an inspiring small-bodied acoustic? I can’t recommend this guitar enough."
Dan's Pick
Collings I-35LC Lexingtone Custom
"When a company as talented as Collings can take the concept of a great vintage guitar and thrust it into the modern world with the perfect balance of reverence and execution, they’ll have my eternal devotion!
I wanted Collings to try their hand at folding the classic early 60s Kalamazoo-made Epiphone Sheraton into their I-35LC model, and boy, did they deliver!
The custom-wound mini humbuckers by their Austin neighbor Righteous Sound Pickups sound phenomenal, and the fit, finish, and playability are just off the charts."
