We've made many custom guitars from quilted Sapele (it's hard to deny its visual appeal), and find the sound to be virtually identical to Mahogany (if anything, the softer, quilted wood may result in a warmer sounding guitar). Coupled with a torrefied Sitka Spruce top, this makes for a very crisp and detailed sounding guitar that provides maximum versatility whether you're a heavy strummer or budding singer-songwriter.
