Why We Love This

This lovely, custom oval-hole A slightly predates Girouard's current model lineup, falling halfway between Studio and Ensemble appointment levels. We love the look of the vintage amber top set against the dark-burst back, sides, and neck, the paddle headstock and clamshell tailpiece further accentuating the 'teens Gibson mandolin vibe. While Max has captured the warm, open bass and ample sustain of the originals, this mandolin offers a more modern sense of single-note definition, pop and power.

The neck has a narrow feel, an aftermarket, light reshaping and speedneck treatment making for a fast, easy playing experience. If you have found the 1 3/16" nut on those old Gibsons a touch wide, the svelte neck on this mandolin will hold appeal.
