There's little that hasn't already said about Gibson's Les Paul Custom, but great 'modern era' examples like this very clean Alpine White Custom from 1987 continue to reinforce the argument that nothing can really out-Paul a Paul.

Randy Rhoads? The Edge? Steve Jones?

The list goes on and on, and for good reason. Les Paul Customs are the 007 of Gibson's famous single-cut. Dressed to kill and unmatched in its class, Customs are some of the most lusted-after electric guitars ever made... and they never go out of style.

The reverse tuxedo look of this Alpine White Custom hails from 1987 and it's looking mighty fine for a 35 year old LP. In typical fashion, the brighter white finish has yellowed, but not nearly as much as we're used to seeing. That, combined with the condition of the guitar and accompanying hardware, leads us to believe that this Custom didn't see a lot of stage time. It remains entirely stock, from the tuners to the pickguard, knobs, hardware, and electronics. Although stamped 'SEC' above the serial number on the back of the headstock (indicating a factory second), it's hard to identify just what exactly caused Gibson to give it that mark.

While the 1980s weren't very kind to guitar stylings and aesthetics, the timelessness of a Les Paul like this one becomes even more evident.
