This beguiling Gibson L1 is as great-sounding an example of the model as we've ever heard (and we have a particular penchant for the early 1930's 12-fret Gibsons, which take a back seat to nothing in terms of responsiveness and complexity of tone). While it's not fair to say one L1 is the "best sounding" one we've ever hosted, since there is significant variety of sound amongst these guitars, this is certainly the cleanest one we've ever offered for sale. The guitar has had an expertly performed neck reset; and it's wearing an expertly made replacement bridge. Other than that, it's original and in shockingly spiffy condition.

The sound of this guitar has turned the heads of everyone on staff here at TME: it's got richness, power, openness of voice like you wouldn't believe, and that very interesting shimmer that's common amongst these super-lightweight early 1930's Gibsons. And that's to say nothing of its responsiveness! Even with low action, thanks to the aforementioned neck set, this guitar feels amazingly full, with every note offering a rounded-off bloom that sets it apart from the 14-fret L-00 models which were popularized in the later 30's. This is a great-sounding, easy playing L1, the sound of which will make a believer out of even the most hardened Martinophile. Priced with 1960's hard case.
