This "Fender Special Run" (FSR) Stratocaster is essentially an American Vintage '56 model that's been given the roasting treatment.

Roasting? Read on friends...

Roasting, or torrefaction, is a sophisticated process where wood is heated in a controlled, oxygen-free environment. This technique, borrowed from the world of high-end woodworking, significantly enhances the wood's performance in several ways.

During the roasting process, the wood undergoes a transformation that mimics the natural aging process. The heat treatment reduces the wood's moisture content and crystallizes its cellulose, resulting in a material that is more stable and less susceptible to environmental changes.

The removal of volatiles and resins during roasting leads to a noticeable improvement in the wood's acoustic properties. Players often describe roasted wood guitars as having a richer, more resonant sound with enhanced sustain. The process brings out deeper, more complex tonal qualities, providing a vintage-like warmth and clarity.

Thanks for hanging in there with us for that roasting lecture. :-) We wanted to explain this process as it provides a window into what makes this '56 Reissue Strat so great. It's indeed incredibly resonant and lively when played acoustically. Snappy, excellent note definition, and really responsive. The neck sports the perfect not too big not too small mid-50s style profile and its satin finish and larger frets feel fantastic for extended periods of play.

All of this translates beautifully into an amp. Loaded with Fender's American Vintage '56 Single-Coils, all the classic Strat tones are here...but there's a smidge more depth and complexity to the tone. Wonderful stuff to be sure.

Condition
This guitar was barely played and the only signs of wear we could find are a few light marks on the trem cover / backplate. No fret wear. The fresh setup plays beautifully.
