Get your Melody Maker on with this 1967 Epiphone Olympic!

Made alongside its bigger brother Gibson versions in Kalamazoo, the Epiphone Olympic is essentially a rebranded Gibson Melody Maker. This is the stripped down single pickup version, with a thin slab Mahogany body, Mahogany neck, and Rosewood fingerboard.

As far as student model electrics go, Melody Makers have become unsung heroes for those that love a "Junior" electric, and have often become favored for slide and open tuning playing. This particular guitar found its way to us locally, and while it does exhibit some changes (primarily plastics), the core of the instrument is all there. It features an aftermarket Curtis Novak MM90 pickup which is arguably the best MM style pickup available today and considered a big upgrade from the stock MM pickups Gibson was making at the time.

It's got its original chrome-plated wraparound bridge, Kluson double-line strip tuners with pearl buttons, and tortoise pickguard as well. The original Sunburst finish is in good shape, with various dings, nicks, scratches, and lacquer checking we've come to expect with a nearly 60 year old electric that's been played. Its original "short" vibrola tailpiece was removed long ago, and the previous owner took the liberty of adding a rooster decal to cover up the mounting holes. We thought it looked the part so we left it, but it being a fairly recent addition to the guitar, it will likely come off quite cleanly if the next owner decides against it.

Super comfortable and lightweight with some attitude, these Olympic models are some of the most inviting and fun vintage electrics out there.
