The moniker "Super" isn't just relegated to Strats. Teles can get in on the fun as evidenced by this gorgeous Tuttle Tuned T.
To be sure one of the best parts of our job here at The Music Emporium is playing what seems to be an endless stream of incredible instruments on any given day - some from builders we represent, some from builders we admire "from afar".
Michael Tuttle is one such builder who makes consistently mind-blowing guitars and we feel fortunate anytime one makes its way into the shop. Take, for instance, this Tuned T model that effortlessly hot-rods the classic Tele via a Strat-style tremolo, humbucker in the bridge position, and a mini-humbucker in the neck position.
Some of our favorite builders who focus on modern-leaning designs manage to straddle the line between old-school and new-school. By using an Ash body with a Maple/Indian Rosewood fingerboard, Michael keeps one foot in tradition, but the 12" fingerboard radius, humbucker / mini-humbucker combo, and locking tuners puts the other foot squarely in the modern camp (these aren't specs you find on a traditional Tele for players new to T-style guitars).
OK, basic specs aside - how does it sound it play? Incredible, on both fronts. Micheal is renowned for his outstanding fret work and combined with the lightly finished C neck carve yield an incredibly easy playing guitar on par w/Grosh, Suhr, Anderson, etc...The feel has a great mix of traditional Fender and modern ease of play - hard to describe, but suffice it to say these guitars have a lot of soul and vibe for a moder-leaning build.
Tonally? Michael's guitars always sound incredible and this Tuned T is no exception - just fantastic stuff that definitely broadens what a T-style guitar can do tonally.
Can you tell we like this one? :-)
