1960's Martins simply don't get much better than this '61 D-21. The style-21 dreadnoughts, only produced between the late 1950's and middle 1960's, are often overlooked in favor of their big brother, the classic D-28. But if you've scrolled past those D-21s in search of your forever Martin, let us be the one to say it ... STOP! Overlooked is exactly the right way to think of these guitars: essentially, they are D-28s, with the trim of a D-18. OK, true, the D-21 has a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and bridge, like a D-18 from this era would; but it's also got the coveted Brazilian rosewood back and sides of a D-28. If you want the warm, powerful, broken-in sound of a vintage D-28, and you can sleep at night knowing you own a guitar with some minor aesthetic differences, consider the dinner bell rung. This particular D-21 is lightly constructed, in fabulous, clean original condition, with recent neck reset and setup by luthier Pat DiBurro. (A strap button has also been added.) No cracks, and all original components (bracing, bridge plate, etc.) are intact and squeaky clean. This is a great sounding guitar, and a dynamite deal as far as vintage flattops are concerned. Priced with 1970's thermoplastic Martin hardshell case.
