Meticulous replica of a baroque guitar made in Paris in the late 17th century and now held in the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History.

What To Know

Here is an exquisite baroque guitar by noted lute maker Michael Sprake in London, 1974. A copy of an extant Voboam in the Smithsonian, this five-course guitar features a spruce top over a sycamore back and sides, all centered around an intricate, pear-and-parchment rose. There is a small repaired crack in the face below the mustache bridge; the guitar is in otherwise excellent condition.

Along with a custom coffin case, also included are detailed plans drawn by Sprake as well as a typed spec sheet with a full run down of materials. An impossibly lightweight, airy instrument that will captivate Early Music aficianados and professionals alike.
